The Year of Less
(and therefore more)

Have you ever felt like you were standing right on the precipice of falling straight to rock bottom?

That’s me right now.

And stepping back from that precipice…just somehow needs to happen.

And since an excess in many categories of life seems to play a huge role in the impending catastrophe (and because I freaking love acronyms), I’m focusing on 4 large categories in life, and calling it Project MESSY.

Project MESSY:

M = Mind (mindset, habits, anxiety…)

E = Energy (food, exercise, rest, sleep…)

S = Spending (overshopping, budgeting…)

S = Space (decluttering both physical and digital spaces)

Y = Why (general thoughts on why any of this project matters)

This blog is about me and my messy life.

I’m not here to teach, though in sharing this, I do hope something I write may spark an idea that will help you.

I’m definitely not giving you health (mental or physical) advice, which I’m not qualified to do.

I might give you decluttering “advice”, because it’s kind of my jam (even though I can’t seem to stay uncluttered, so I probably won’t give you advice about that!)

This blog is about getting past the “Why is it so freaking hard to make changes, even when there’s an actual life or death danger?” stage.

(I mean, did you know that sugar can cause not just diabetes but also heart disease?)

I don’t have quantifiable goals here (gasp!). No specific a1c level I’m trying to reach (just a bit less sugar), no specific number of boxes of stuff to donate each week (just a bit less stuff). No specific spending budget (just a bit less shopping).

A bit less, and a bit less again, and again - to make big changes, and make space for so much more.

And so, welcome to the inside of my mind. I hope you’ll stay a while. (Or at least not end up too freaked out by how my mind works!)
